Our staff is stable, so our clients won't be stuck having to "break in" and "train" new staff members from the CPA firm every year. You get the benefit of the same auditors back year after year. We also make sure that we have direct partner involvement on every audit or review engagement. Members of the firm have passed nine AICPA peer reviews.

The firm offers financial statement, tax, and consulting services to associations nationwide. In addition, the firm is regularly sought out by other CPA firms nationwide when they need help with HOA issues. Our firm has provided consulting services to more than 500 CPA firms over the years.

Gary Porter, CPA

Gary Porter initially started working with homeowners associations in 1976 after leaving an international CPA firm and joining, and later becoming a partner in, a local CPA firm in Ventura, California. Over the years, his CPA practice has gone through several affiliations, but has ultimately resulted in the firm of Porter & Lasiewicz CPAs. The firm is recognized nationwide for its specialty practice in homeowners’ associations (HOA). Our HOA practice represents several hundred associations. Our significant concentration within a single industry has allowed us to accumulate a considerable body of knowledge. Our proven technical expertise has given the firm national recognition. 

Gary Porter CPA has more than 40 years of HOA auditing and consulting experience, serving associations since 1976. Our team of experienced professionals is ready to serve you, and we offer a range of services that is unique in the industry. There is only one firm that can claim that we "wrote the book" on associations. Gary Porter is the primary co-author of PPC's (Practitioners Publishing Company) Guide to Homeowners Associations and Other Common Interest Realty Associations, and Homeowners Association Tax Library. Mr. Porter was the editor of CAI's "The Ledger Quarterly" for its entire 15-year production run, and has also authored more than 300 technical articles on various association matters.

Cheryl Lasiewicz, CPA

Cheryl Lasiewicz has been a CPA since 1998 and has over 25 years of public accounting experience in a wide range of industries to include homeowners’ associations, governmental and nonprofit organizations. Cheryl Lasiewicz initially started working with homeowners’ associations in 2013 after leaving a mid-size regional firm and joining and later becoming a partner in a local CPA firm in Thousand Oaks, California. Cheryl is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Cheryl is a contributing author to the PPC’s Guide to Homeowners’ Associations and Other Common Interest Realty Associations.
